Closed; Ginny Weasley - Damage Control

Witch Weekly always came out at the end of the week with its famous gossip spread. Travis figured that their writer had enough time to gather all the life ruining information possible from the previous weekend. He never paid it much attention, or at least he tried not to. It was pretty difficult lately when his name, or at least his initials, were ( Read more... )

Ginny got out of practice later than normal. Since their win against the Arrows they had stepped up their game for practices. Ginny generally took it easy on the girls when she could but the higher ups wanted to make sure that they kept winning. So practices were a little longer than usual.

She took her time on her walk home from her hidden apperation spot a few blocks from her building. After all it wasn't like she had big plans for the night she had to get to. All that was waiting for her was making dinner than reading the Daily Prophet and Witch Weekly on her couch.

So she was mildly shocked to find Travis sitting outside her door with a shopping bag next to him. "We didn't have plans I forgot about did we?" She asked him as she stepped up to unlock her door.

Travis heard her coming down the hall and prepared himself. This was not going to be an easy conversation and he was never the best with words.

"Heyyyyy, Ginz," he said, forcing a smile as he picked himself up. The ice cream would have melted but Travis kept charming it frozen - a handy spell that also worked well on his beer.

"No, we didn't but I figured I'd come over."

Ginny smiled at him as she entered the apartment and stepping aside so he could enter behind her. "Well you know I always enjoy your company but you aren't normally one to just pop over randomly. Is there a special occasion?"

She hung up her coat and placed her back down on the counter. She saw the Daily Prophet and Witch Weekly sitting on the counter where she had dropped them that morning. With a swipe of the hand she grabbed them up and headed towards the couch.

Molly Weasley would be appalled at her lack of "hospitality" but Travis was practically family. Besides if he wanted anything he knew where it was and could get it himself. There was no point trying to wait on him.

It was a miracle he wasn't sweating bullets as they stepped into the apartment. Travis hadn't been this nervous news to anyone since him and Natalie had "the break up talk".

When Ginny picked up the magazine, he panicked.

"I wanted to talk," he told her, dropping the ice cream and beers on the counter haphazardly. Travis leaned over the end of the sofa once he had caught up and plucked Witch Weekly from her hands.

"Yeah, we sort of need to talk right now."

Ginny gave Travis a tired smile. "Thanks Trav. I know you're always there for me when I need it."

She spooned up some of the ice cream and took a huge bite. The cold and the sweetness did a lot to ease her mind. She looked up with little interest at the envelop in Travis's hand. "The Witch Weekly party? Why would I get invited to that?"

"Who knows - I got one too actually. Maybe we're more interesting than we realize?" he guessed, coming back around to sofa to rejoin her. Ginny was probably actually invited because she was some big shot quidditch star or because she was Harry's ex.

Travis took his usual spot on the sofa, settling in.

"Seriously, though…Skylar Fawcett?"

Ginny snorted. She wasn't interesting at all, especially right now. Maybe her title as Captain opened more doors than she thought.

She took a swig of her beer and then offered the ice cream to Travis. "I know right! Why the hell is Harry dating Skylar Fawcett?"

Travis grabbed at the ice cream straight away. In his hast he hadn't even thought to get himself any dinner. He was so focused on beating Ginny to this flat.

"She was so terrible in school," he said through large spoon fulls. "The last time I saw her she was with Reid. She just stood there…quiet and staring. Didn't even bother to say hello."
