Travis had been all out of whack since the music benefit, even more so after Natalie's drop by. Over the last five years he'd become very comfortable in the life he'd build for himself, throwing himself into his work during the week and bar hopping with Jake on the weekends (and most week nights too, actually) or just holing up in his flat when a

Wow, what can I say? The flowers are gorgeous. Bright and just...so lovely. Unexpected, but in a fantastic way. I've been thinking about you often, since our last encounter.
I wanted to tell you how sorry I am that our last conversation went the way it did. Well, most of it. The end was rather nice. It pains me that you and Jake aren't speaking right now. I haven't told him that I came to see you that day, but I probably will. He will be upset at me for trying to protect him, but really I was trying to protect all of us. For a long time, the only way I heard about what was going on in your life was through Jake. I hope going forward, that won't be the case...
I would absolutely love to go to dinner with you next week. I am free most evenings, so just let me know which day works for you and we will get it all set in stone.
Yours,
Natalie
Attached to the letter is one of the red roses he sent to her, charmed to smell like her perfume.

Natalie,
Don't apologize for coming over - I've been thinking about it and I'm really glad you came over.
You should tell Jake about it if you think you should. If anything, he'll be shocked we were in the same room together for so long.
How about Tuesday? I'll pick you up at your flat at 7:30.
Yours,
Travis
