I put pre-sweetened espresso in mine.
I I don't like my coffee to be scaldingly hot, so tucking it into my waistcoat keeps it at the perfect temperature.
As you said - perfect prop, in and out of character... and no one ever quite believes me when they ask with a knowing smirk what is in it, and I answer them with a sweet, sweet smile of my own "coffee. coffee and.... sugar." (and when they ask me what else, as if I'd lie about something so silly, I get to answer - "more sugar".
