The perils of writing fanfiction while the fandom is still alive and kicking

You know, there's always a slight chance that a fanfiction author will have to create a scenario or come up with information for a story, even if it was never covered in canon. I'd chug along and just ignore what Rowling wrote :) It is what it is, and plenty of fanfic has been written before there was more info (even when said canon would be expanding by show or movie or book). I say ignore it and write the story you're writing, then throw a disclaimer on it just to appease those that might be persnickety about such things ;)

Great advice! And I think that's the route I'm going to go. It's just that I was worried about the persnickety people and their willingness to jump in at every opportunity to point out that "I should know better." :)
