The articleimplied that it would mix CG with animatronics. Now, call me cynical, but says to me that the studio execs said "OK, this film has a built in audience, and Henson's name is an immediate kid-and-parent crowd draw, so we'll go ahead with it, but update it, make it flashy, cool effects, you understand?"
Part of the problem with a sequel like this is that the ones that really want to see it for what it is are 20 years older, and this will never live up to how the film is remembered in their minds. Meanwhile, the younger crowd with the attention span of a gnat will watch it, obsess over it, buy up the merchandise...and move on to the next big thing. Star Wars, anyone?
