[Clothing] What little aristocratic Victorian ladies wear: frilly dresses. Lots and lots of frilly dresses. She's always well dressed for any occasion, whether it's just going out to the park or tutorial sessions. And apparently, she often goes shopping for clothes and hats with Cain.

[Background]
WORK IN PROGRESS WOOHOO

[Personality]
Merryweather is the precocious and intelligent little girl of the Hargreaves household. Cheerful and bright, Riff once mentioned that her arrival had made the house livelier [considering the household of Hargreaves was usually visited by ill-fortune and the lot]. Merry's pretty smart, to say the least, and she's quick to pick up on some things. Having lived on the streets of London for most of her life, she developed a common sense and a sharp wit that even catches her older brother off guard. Even her tutors would have difficulty catching up to her pace in the progress she's making with her academics. There's this certain maturity about her that even in dire times, she would serve as the household's voice of reason. To be honest, she's probably more mature than a number of people in the series and could deal with a lot more stress with grace than most of the others.

This trait would also prove itself whenever she would berate Cain, constantly disapproving of his escapades with women and his reckless behavior.

She grew up very much loved, first by her mother [who had killed herself for Merry's sake] and then by Cain, Riff and Oscar. But she wasn't a sheltered little girl despite Cain's constant attempt to lock her up. Having lived on the countryside and the streets of London, Merry's quite independent and well-versed with street smarts. And being spoiled to death by Cain and Riff after she'd been adopted into the Hargreaves family, she can at times be stubborn, bratty and strong-willed, unafraid to speak her mind especially when she wants to get her way. She hates being looked down upon just because she grew up in the streets, almost mirroring Cain's personality whenever people look down upon him for his age.

However Merry is still a child all the same, still playful and outgoing like any other kid but more proper and reserved, her manners impeccable. She's a child of a noble after all [though spoiler! it was revealed later on that she wasn't]. Merry's also innocent, sometimes to a fault. She's still a kid through and through and she won't exactly understand every situation handed to her, most especially when her own morals are being questioned. She understands murder and death; but she doesn't understand why it had to occur, what makes it justifiable. Sometimes, she even refuses to face what is before her such as that incident with Gilford.

Innocence isn't just a lack of knowledge one has but can also connote as an optimistic view of the world around. It defines what Merry is: pure and chaste and yet to be tainted despite bearing the cursed name of the Hargreaves. And it's this innocence also gives a semblance of home to Cain. She loves her older brother, protective of him and worries a lot about him, and she almost hates the way Cain treats her. Like a treasure, locked up behind a glass cage. Nevertheless, it's this desire to see her brother happy that she constantly works hard to keep their rather dysfunctional family working. She also has a penchant for dark and gothic stories; not surprising with a brother like Cain who works with poisons.

[Specialties/Abilities]
As Merry had said in the series, she's psychic, an ability she had inherited from her mother. According to her, they're able to see spirits as well as people's fates hence her fortune-telling can be rather powerful and accurate. For a while, this ability of hers disappeared because fortune-tellers live unfortunate lives as they give their happiness and fortune in exchange for an accurate reading of people's fate. However after Emmeline, her brother's fiancée died, her powers seemed to have returned to how it was.

Just a note. Her ability is precognition in a way, being able to see people's fates and all. I'm fine with these powers being suppressed or being dormant during her time in Somarium since I wouldn't want to use these powers as an excuse to metagame or anything. BUT if it's okay, I could set up a permissions post for Merry as well, asking people if it's all right for them to have Merry look into their past, present and future.

[Affection]
Merry is a very affectionate girl. She makes up what Cain lacks when it comes to being open when it comes with her emotions and all that. If she likes you, she will show it through open concern and worry and most of the time, nagging and bossing you around. Hugging is okay; she hugs back, I'm sure. Kissing is another thing. Maybe on the cheek or the forehead - and as long as you're close, it's fine. Kissing on the hand is okay too since it's common courtesy in Victorian England.

[Fighting]
Merry CANNOT fight. She's born and raised in Victorian England. She's also just 10 years old. Maiming and killing, please please please raise it with me first. She's a ten-year-old kid WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO KILL A 10-YEAR-OLD KID

[Other Permissions]
telepathy: take it up with me first. While I don't mind, there isn't really magic where Merry comes from so she'll pretty much tell you that you're rude and start ranting on invading people's privacy etc etc.
4th-walling: again, take it up with me. Chances are, coming from the Victorian age, there'd be other characters who might be familiar with the era and all that. If it's necessary, then take it up with me and let's make it work.
threadjacking: Iiiiii don't really mind :|

[Other Facts] She's actually a 35-year-old person inside a ten-year-old body :|
