Bestes of Estes

Jul 27, 2007 16:43

(Sorry, peeps. I couldn't resist the stupid title.)

Estes Park was AWESOME. Our adventures included...

  • taking several gorgeous and strenuous hikes in the Rocky Mountains (I did about 18 miles total, while SG did about 25);
  • taking an intense half-day whitewater rafting trip on the Lower Poudre River. We lost Merrill (SG's dad) overboard during a rough patch of rapids, and he was tossed around in the river for a minute or two. I pulled him into the boat, thereby saving his life;
  • sitting by a glacier, seeing ots of elk, a mommy and baby marmot, some bighorn sheep, and many magpies;
  • taking 7-year-old Ellie (SG's neice) to a planetarium in Boulder and going shopping and getting massages with Fabiola (SG's sister-in-law), who is eight months pregnant.

    Here are some pics. Stories to follow!

    The views were stunning. This is Sky Pond, at the top of one of the long hikes we took in the Rocky Mountains.

    Here's me on a hike to Lake Haiyaha.
