so the Rat Patrol had the first (maybe annual) Rattification this afternoon. Lots and lots of patches were given out, of all sorts, ones for chopper or tallbike purists, little rats, big rats, Rat Patrol back patches, A patch for every year someone has been in the Rat Patrol, a patch you can fill in that tells how many ratty miles you've got,

I believe the company was called Intelligent Cycle Engineering or something to that effect. The acronym is of course ICE. It's nothing spectacular or new, it's just something with multiple gears to try out. I discovered this morning that I have a Dura-Ace front hub I had forgotten about, unfortunately it's a 28 hole, and I don't have any 28 hole rims. I might get a Shimano wh-r535 rear wheel that my co-op got at the dump, which would give me an 18 speed road bike, except I still need a rear derailleur. I've got a D-A braze on front which will fit the frame nicely, so I'll probably get an eight/nine speed rear D-A to match and call it a bike, or thereabouts. I've never had a nice geared bike before, the prospect is kinder exciting. I's a gonna be FAST:)
