It was nearly ten. Karen had given him an odd look when he slipped into the living room, said good-bye to her and Keith and said he'd be back later. Keith just shook his head, laughing and Lucas shrugged. "I didn't see her, yet." Karen only told him not to be too late, she worries and he promised he would be back before the sun came up ( Read more... )

Peyton lay on her bed listening to a cd she had picked up earlier that afternoon, Punk Goes 90's. As she listened to Hit The Lights covering The Gin Blossom's Hey Jealousy she put the finishing touches on her latest drawing. It was a picture of Ellie. She was just snapping the lid back onto her Sharpie when a rustling in her doorway and the smell of coffee made her look up.

A smile broke across her face and she quickly bounded off the bed and over into Luke's arms. She wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly. Without saying a word, she brought her lips to his and gave him a slow lingering kiss. "Hi." She said smiling up at him as their lips finally parted.

He laughed and tried to hug her, but the flowers and coffee holder in his hands weren't making it easy. In fact, when she attacked him, he had to try not to drop the coffee or spill it over either of them. He laughed and kissed her back, straining to lean into her kiss as she pulled back excitedly.

"Well, hello to you, too."

He grinned as she moved to take the coffee and he handed her the flowers instead. "Put those in water. I'll put the cofee down."

Peyton laughed a little sheepishly as he said hello and kissed her back. She probably could have waited for him to set everything down first. She went to take the coffee from his hands, but he pulled them out of her reach and handed her the flowers instead. She brought them to her nose and breathed in the floral scent happily.

As he moved to set the coffee down on her desk, she moved toward the corner of the room where she kept a brightly colored vase (one that she had, in fact, painted herself) full of paintbrushes. She moved the brushes to one of her many art supply drawers and took the flowers and the vase with her into the bathroom to get water.
"How was your trip?" She called out over the sound of running water. "Did you and Nate have fun?"

She emerged back into the room and set the vase of flowers on her window-seal.

He had managed to make himself comfortable on the bed, his coffee sitting carefully on the nightstand next to him. His legs were crossed at the ankles, hands patiently folded in his lap. It was only when she put the vase full of flowers down that he reached out and grabbed her, pulling her close to him when she passed by again. He grinned and kissed her, laying her back on the bed next to him, carefully.

"It was fun. I missed you, though."
