Peyton checked her watch while she stood at the crowded gate in Tree Hill International Airport. Brooke's plane was due in soon, and she was hoping to surprise her friend by coming to pick her up. Peyton still felt guilty about everything that had happened between them because of Lucas, again and she was taking every oppertunity she could find to show Brooke that they were still best friends. Even if it meant dragging her butt out of bed on a Sunday to pick her up at the airport.

Her stomach growled loudly and she looked from the gate to the small bookshop off to her left. There were bound to have some kind of snacks in there...staring at the empty gate one last time, Peyton rushed inside the tiny shop and began searching for something to eat. She loaded her arms up with a few candy bars and a bottle of water, before she got distracted looking at the new issue of Rolling Stone. She was involved in a story about Bob Dylan when she heard the overhead announce the arrival of Brooke's plane. Quickly closing the music magazine, and

Brooke heard the familiar voice call her name and before she knew it she was wrapped in Peyton's arms. She smiled as she hugged her best friend back. She did have someone there to pick her up. Someone who cared and loved her.

"P.Sawyer! I missed you!" She said as the hug ended. She looked at Peyton and smiled. Brooke's eyes wondered towards the bag in Peyton's hands. "Presents?" She asked as her eyes lit up like a child on Christmas morning.

Peyton laughed at the eager look on Brooke's face at the sight of the small shopping bag.

"Not much, I'm afraid..." Peyton said rummaging through it. "But I figure what better way to welcome you back to Tree Hill then with the..." She pulled Cosmo out of the bag and studied the cover for a second. "The Beside Astrologer!" She quipped in a faux excited voice. She laughed and handed Brooke the magazine and a candy bar.

"So B. Davis," She said grabbing one of Brooke's bags and hoisting it over her own shoulder as the two girls walked side by side through the airport. "How was California?"

Brooke opened the candy bar to take a bite as she studied the Cosmo cover. She gave Peyton her signature B.Davis smile.

"California was great." She smiled again. "Minus the no Peyton part, and the no Haley part, no Mouth, no Chris, no Jake and Jenny" She said the last two names quickly trying to not draw attention to them even though she knew Peyton would pick up on them.

"Oh I forgot! Luke and Nate! And Rachel, kinda." She rolled her eyes. She still hadn't gotten used to being friends with Rachel yet. "So, how's broody? You two pulling a Naley yet?" She asked taking a bite out of the candy bar?
