Peyton smiled as the afternoon sun warmed her shoulders. She threw out her arms and spread out the white paper tablecloth over the long folding table she and Brooke had dug out of the garage earlier that day. As she set up chairs around the table, a thought occured to her, and she ran back inside the house and up to her room. She dug through her ( Read more... )

"P.Sawyer! I'm back and I brought...Ice Cream!" Brooke said with a large smile. She walked up to Peyton and looked at the cd pile. She scrunched her nose.

"Please, no emo this time, okay?" She grinned. She placed the ice cream down next to Peyton. She took a second to look out at what they had set up. Everything looked ready, they just needed their friends to come over and this would be a great party central. She looked at the grill and frowned. "Nathan is making the burgers right? I can't stand to look at red meat. Yuck!"

Peyton grinned and stood up to help Brooke with her grocceries. "Alright, but no Chris Keller either." She smirked.

"Let's go stash this ice cream in the freezer so it doesn't melt, then we'll get some of the other snacks set out." They hurried inside and stowed the ice cream, and while Peyton grabbed the chips and dip, Brooke brought out a few bowls containing potato salad, beans, and macaroni that they had picked up at the deli the day before. Peyton snorted as she realized that neither of the girls had actually MADE anything they were planning on serving to their guests, although that was probably a good thing. After setting up the food, Brooke frowned at the grill.

"Yes, Nate is on burger duty. Haley promised me we wouldn't have to go near the grill." Peyton moved over to the side and pour two glasses of soda for them to drink while they waited on their friends to arrive. "To summer." She said simply.

Peyton looked at Brooke with mock Seriousness. "Brooke Penolope Davis, you'll ruin your dinner!" When Brooke looked like she was going to start pouting, Peyton grinned and setting her drink on the table, jumped onto Brookes back. "Ha. Let's see you try to steal a slice of cake with me on your back!" She laughed as the girls wobbled around the backyard. "Future reference Mouth..." Peyton called, still clinging to Brooke's back. "Chocolate Cake is one of Brooke's biggest weaknesses, you can pretty much get her to do whatever you want."

She laughed and hopped off Brooke and went to give Mouth a hug.
"Hey Guys,"
Peyton turned to see Haley walking towards them with a big bowl of maccaroni and cheese. "Hey Haley," She said brightly.

Haley made her way into Peyton's backyard carrying a big bowl of her famous mac and cheese. Seeing Brooke and Mouth already there her smile widened and she hurried to join them. Nate had promised to meet her there, but said he had to get 'grill necesities' if he was going to be cooking.

"Hey guys," she greeted setting the bowl down on the table and taking a seat across from Brooke.

Peyton turned from Brooke and Mouth at the sound of Haley's voice.
"Hey Haley," She said good naturedly, keeping an eye on Brooke and the chocolate cake from the corner of her eye.

"Where's your hubby?" She asked, looking over the other girl's shoulder to see if Nathan was following her inside. "I told him he has to be Burger boy. Brooke and I aren't allowed near open flames. Bad things happen." She smirked.

Laughing at Peyton's comment Haley explained, complete with air quotes, "He had to get 'manly grilling necessities'. He should be here any minute though."

Seeing Brooke practically drooling over all of the food she too began to get hungry, "And he better hurry because now I'm straving."

Jake followed Jenny into Peyton's backyard with his arms full. With a cooler of drinks in one hand, and Jenny's bag of necessities in the other, Jake made his way over to the table to set everything down. He chuckled and shook his head as he watched his excited daughter run over to the girls immediately.

"What's up, guys?" he smiled once he relieved his arms of the load.

Peyton heard a girlish giggle and felt a thump as a small warm body crashed into her legs, giving her a tight hug. She smiled when she looked down and saw the one and only Jenny Jagielski. Her favorite little girl in the world. She swooped down on the tiny blonde and pulled her up into her arms, she gave her a noisy kiss on the cheek which caused Jenny to giggle further still.

"Hey Jake." Peyton said smiling at him. She was glad he had come, but it still didn't stop her heart from twisting a little at the sight of him. She still hadn't been able to face talking to him about everything that had happened. She just hadn't been able to find the words, but she knew she would have to soon. She couldn't avoid the topic forever.

She bounced Jenny in her arms as she said. "Not too much is going on yet. We're still waiting on Nathan to get here with the burgers...and I'm trying to keep Brooke away from the cake...." She smirked over at her best friend. "but other than that..." She trailed off with a shrug.

Jake smiled and replied, "Glad I haven't missed too much then," as he moved around to the other side of the table where Mouth was sitting. He patted Mouth on the back as he sat down next to him. "Hey Mouth."

"Hey guys, sorry if I'm a few minutes late..."

Jake's attention turned to the tall, blonde figure walking towards the table. He watched as Peyton walked up to Lucas and shared flirtatious comments and glances. It was still weird for Jake to see them together, but he was still learning to deal with it. He still hadn't talked to Peyton about any of this, but he was giving her time. Or maybe he was just trying to avoid it in order to save himself from the confrontation. He wasn't really sure anymore.

Suddenly, he felt a light tug on his jeans and looked down to find Jenny. "Lucy!" she begged. He brought her onto his lap as he began to dig through her bag, in search of her favorite doll. Once he found the doll and handed it to Jenny, his ears perked at the mention of his name.

"Show us what real music is then...Haley, Jake, why ( ... )

Peyton cocked her blonde head to the side. She looked like she was going to protest for a moment, but she just smiled at him again. "It's ok. Chris would probaly cry if you showed him up anyway." She looked back at Keller. "Alright, Chris. Look's like the stage is yours."

Chris moved to tune his guitar and turned to the rest of her friends...which now included Tim for some reason. She gave him an odd look before shoving her hands in her back pockets and smiling at her friends. "Well, who knows when Nate is going to get here with his..." She smirked at Haley and removed her hands from her pockets long enough to use air quotes..."Manly grilling neccessities." She laughed, "So why don't we dig into what we've got here already? We've got chips, beans, potato salad, Haley's famous Mac and Cheese, Plus Mouth's chocolate cake."

She glanced at the spread of food, "Besides, I'm not sure exactly what Nathan's 'grill experience' is...we may want to fill up on this food before he gets here."

Chris Keller came with Jake but instead of emerging into the crowd he went to the music collection. As he looked down at the records before him he saw Fall Out Boy and other music that didn't suit his tastes.

As loudly as he could he commented, "Crap, crap, crap...who calls this music? Good thing Keller brought live entertainment." Instantly he lifted his guitar case to all the people at the party.

Peyton turned from the group of friends when she heard Chris commenting on her musical tastes. She was tempted to snap at him. To tell him that she called that muisc, and good music at that... but the nice day and her friends being together had her in too much of a good mood to pick a fight with him.

She gave him a shrug as she leaned against Lucas's shoulder. Actually, live music was just what the party needed. Especially since they were still one member and some burgers short. "Alright Keller." She nodded at him. "Show us what real music is then...Haley, Jake, why don't you guys join him?"

Just after Jake and Jenny arrived, Lucas graced the party with his presence as well. Walking over to the group of friends with a pitcher of his mom's famous Lemonade Iced Tea, a smile grew on his face. When he saw Jenny with Peyton, he couldn't help but let out a quiet chuckle as he got closer, he made his presence known.

"Hey guys, sorry if I'm a few minutes late. My mom wouldn't let me leave the cafe today without bringing some of her Lemonade Iced Tea...and of course, knowing her, it wasn't made yet" He let a slight smile come across his face as he stuck the pitcher out slightly, not knowing what to do with it. "Anywhere imparticular you'd like this to be, Miss Sawyer?" He brought his eyes over to Peyton as he couldn't surpress the full blown smile he was trying to hide.

"Isn't Nate supposed to be here by now?" He looked around, noting his younger brothers absence.

(ooc: Okay, this was my first try at this kind of roleplaying. How did I do? If I screwed anything up, feel free to correct it! Thanks!)

Peyton's already smiling face brightened further still as Lucas appeared in her backyard. She smiled and stuck out her tongue at him, while Jenny squirmed in her arms. She set the little girl back on the ground, so she could run around and play. "Hmm. Big table..." she nodded in the direction of the table with the other food and drinks on it, "And a pitcher of Iced Tea...I wonder where we could put it?" She teased, as she walked over to him. She took the lemonade from him, and went to set it along side everything else on the table.

"Yeah Hales," She agreed, turning to look at Haley. "Where is Nathan....It's not going to be much of a Barbeque without, well...barbeque." She smirked.

"Crap, crap, crap...who calls this music? Good thing Keller brought live entertainment." Everyone turned to see Chris pulling out his guitar case. Peyton leaned against Lucas's shoulder, and gave Keller a smile, despite his take on her musical tastes. "Well, I suppose we could use some live music until Nate gets here." She gave a shrug to Chris that said ( ... )

Lucas grinned as Peyton teased him about the lemonade. "Hey you better watch it" A smirk came across his face as he pointed her way. As he heard Chris Keller sorting through the music, he looked over in that direction not exactly happy to see him. Once everyone's attention was towards Chris Keller and his infamous guitar, Lucas put an arm around Peyton as she leaned against his shoulder. "Ohh, live entertainment?" He smirked as he looked over at Peyton, then noticed Jenny running around giggling and having fun. A smile came across hsi face as he soon realized how glad he was to be there rather than working for his mom at the cafe.

"Um, well, I don't know..."Lucas knew things with Jake would be akward when Peyton was around, but he couldn't help but be happy around her. He felt bad, that was certain, but they were there to have a good time and Lucas was up for trying his best to pretend like things were at least normal ( ... )

Jake reminded Peyton of a deer caught in the headlights as they suggested he play with Chris, and smiled at him before she told Chris to have at it and brought the subject around to food. Her stomach was growling hungrily and she wasn't sure she could wait much longer for Nathan to get there with with burgers. She was the first that moved towards the piles of food at the end of the table. Grabbing some paper plates from the pile she handed them around to her friends. She held Lucas's gaze for a moment as their fingers brushed together when she handed him his plate. She smiled happily, glad to finally have made it here with him. Even if it had been a long long confusing road.

Breaking his stare, she looked down to the food and began to scoop some of the Mac and Cheese onto her plate. "Smells good Hales." She smiled.
