Surprise Visit

Peyton leaned heavily on her crutches as she got out of her dad's old mustang. Larry Sawyer looked concerned and moved to get out of the driver's seat to help her. "Dad." She gave him a patented look. "I'm fine. Let me do it." He sighed unhappily and slumped backward in the seat as she managed to get to her feet and stood in the driveway of Lucas' ( Read more... )

He was mad. Mad and angry and pissed. He knew he shouldn't blame himself for what happened. He knew that it was Jim - he had made the choice. He was the one that just chose to be invisible. At least, that's what everyone kept telling him. But he couldn't help it. He felt guilty. He wanted to save him, to help him. They had been friends. It had always been them. Jim and Mouth commentating as the guys played basketball...but it all changed. It changed when he joined the team. He sighed and closed his eyes. He knew Mouth was feeling the same things he was, and he knew Mouth was probably the only one to understand, but he couldn't talk to him about it. Not just yet.

He opened his eyes and turned his head to watch Peyton wobble her way over to the bed. He couldn't help but smile when he saw her. He moved, shifting so that she had room to lay down next to him. The minute she did, his arms went around her and hugged, cuddled, her tightly.

"Hey. What are you doing here?"

He finally opened his eyes and smiled at her as she wobbled closer to the bed. She let out a breath that she wasn't aware she'd been holding and smiled back at him, taking the offered spot on his bed. She lay on her side, watching him watch her and wrapped her arms tightly around him the moment she felt his arms envelope her.

She closed her eyes and curled her head up against his chest. "My dad's driving me crazy. I had to get out of that house. Plus..." She looked up into his eyes, the edges of her pink lips turned up in a smile. "There are always certain advantages to visiting your boyfriend." She pressed her lips to his.

He grinned, really grinned for the first time in a while when she pressed her lips to his. He kissed her back, softly, but with some sort of fever, too. He finally pulled away, brushing hair out of her face and looked down at her. He laid on his side, propping his head up with his hand, elbow against the mattress. He really needed to talk to Karen about getting a bigger bed...but there was an advantage to having a small bed, too.

"Well, I'm glad you came. I would've come and picked you up, you didn't need to have Larry drive you...Please don't tell me you stole your own car and drove with a cast on."

She mimicked him, propping her blond head up on the palm of her hand too. She furrowed her brow in an immiation of him, "Would it have made my driving that much worse if I had?" She smiled and leaned forward to kiss him again. "No I didn't car-nap my own vehicle. Dad drove me."

She moved her free hand to his and laced her fingers with his own. "Although, that's not a bad idea. Maybe next time...."
