Student loan companies are seriously run by Satan himself. I have absolutely nothing constructive to say to help because all of my loan is through Direct and all of Jim's is through Sallie Mae and therefore 'consolidation' of them individually was very simple as we were only dealing with one company each.

I realized over the course of this year how they were all able to allow people to lock in a low interst rate of between 2-4% - they've been jacking up the rates on all the poor saps who didn't take advantage of that. :/

Student loans are one of the reasons I didn't jump right into grad school.

Gawd that sounds familiar. I just consoladated all my undergrad loans this past June, then received a letter telling me everything is due at twice what I was expecting to pay (Sally Mae, of course). I call them, and they say, we don't show you as due until September of 2007. So I asked the guy for his first AND last name, because I don't believe a damn word out of anyone's mouth anymore...

You totally just confirmed everything bad that I believed true about student loan companies. You would think that they'd make the process of paying them as easy as possible, so they could get their money...but then they wouldn't get all those nice late fees. Bastards.
