Royal Rumble thoughts
I posted this elsewhere, but I figured it can't hurt to post on my own journal too, so here goes.
I would have sworn that Kennedy was gonna beat Batista, but I guess he's really not ready to hold the big boy title just yet...maybe in the next two months, like at No Way Out, he'll get another shot and win. I'm still betting on Taker/Kennedy at Wrestlemania. Still, a good match.
Hardys/MNM was good, and ended as expected. Hopefully this feud is done and they'll swap Nitro for Matt and put each tag team on one show.
Test/Lashley pissed me off quite a bit. When Test walked out and Lashley followed, I expected a "Restart the match" from Lashley. Instead, he beat up Test and posed. LAAME! Easily worst match of the night, a sore spot on an otherwise excellent payperview.
Cena/Umaga was a hell of a lot better than I expected it to be. The ending was awesome...Cena chokes out umaga, sees if he gets up, chokes him out again when he does, and umaga stays down. Lots of vicious spots in this match, and Cena was very bloody. Fantastic match. Very happy to see Umaga lose, or rather just not win.
The Rumble itself: Yeah Taker! Of the seven guys I watched RR with, votes on who would win were 4 for Orton, 1 for HBK, 1 for 'Taker (me) and 1 for whichever jobber had just entered the ring (Super-Crazy, Chavo, MVP I think). Taker deserved this win, and he put on a damn good show, especially when it got down to him and HBK. Match didn't have some of the fun of previous rumbles I remember, with the exception of the Miz, who needed to be "in-and-out" of the match. They used the Big Khali really well, which is a surprise, and it was badass to see 'Taker take him out alone, especially when it took like 9 or 10 guys to put Vis out. Good stuff, not spectacular, but definetely not bad.
Overall opinion of the Rumble: Good. One complaint: Michael Cole needed to not be commentating on that last match, and they should have let JR or Styles take his place. Cole sucks.
Also, my weekend was good. Went to see Smokin' Aces, which was better than I expected, and I expected it to be a good movie. Played and won 2 games of War-Machine, and swept a WoW CCG tournament on saturday. Christmas party on sunday was okay, more like a big meal with a lot of people I don't know...but Muraiha and a few others were there, so it wasn't too bad. Just a good weekend.
