Apparantly one cannot install Visual Studio Standard Edition (which I was supposed to do this morning) while one has Visual Studio Professional installed (I had a trial copy that had expired installed). Not a big deal, I thought. I go through the process...Add/Remove Programs...Uninstall Visual Studio Pro...install Visual Studio Standard...update ( Read more... )

Actually ... there are a few ways to do this.

One - Got find a program called "CCleaner" on the net. It helps clean your registry of of useless registry entries that no longer work or are broken.

Second - Look for the file on your computer. Type *The file name* and hit search. It should find everything that was related to it. One of them might be in the Registry and you can get it out. To get to the the registry ... go to RUN and type either regedit or regedit32 ... One of those is bound to work.

Now mind you ... I know just enough about computers to damage things. Just a bit of advice on when I had to get rid of a program the same way when I was trying to install a better version.
