I admit I saw Transformers as well. At first I was dragged to it by my roommates, but after having watched it I can say it was pretty good. I will always have little grips about it due to childhood memories and not wanting those changed (Bumblebee could've been a damn beetle :) ). But overall yes they did do a fine job with the movie.
Actually, no, Bumblebee couldn't have been. The Volkswagon company said they didn't want their car associated with a war-robot, as did Porsche(which is why Jazz was a Caddy). At least they gave it a nod by having the porsche dealership and the beetle next to the camaro at the used car lot.
I read in USA Today at one point that was only a rumor. They said in the article that the director just felt the Camero was cooler and more up to date. I think it's code for Chevy moved us TO A BIGGER HOUSE.
Ah well. Whether its true or not, at least he started as the old and busted up Camaro, instead of being the new one the whole time (I liked the old one better personally).
On a positive note, thank God they didn't call that midget boombox Soundwave...that'd have really pissed me off.
Also, I can't stop laughing at people who refuse to see this movie (Chuck mainly, and Travis too, though Travis actually listens to opinions rather than tuning out...)
