Okay, so what does everyone think of the title to the seventh Harry Potter book? It's called (in case you haven't read it on yahoo yet)( cut for those who don't know/want to find out for themselves )

I felt the same when I read book six. I was disappointed with so much of it, and actually felt like some of it was way too influenced by Jo reading mugglenet or some other HP fan site. Some of it didn't have the same feel to it as the previous books, nor the same style. I didn't like the pace or how it seemed too hurried in places. I've also been let down with how the films have developed, more so than the last book, and want the films to be over and done with more than anything else. But I have high hopes that Jo will do something special and unforgettable with the last novel, after all she can't write it again.

I had forgotten about Harry's parents being killed on All Hallows, but it makes so much sense that the last book would relate so much to that night. It gives me a lot to ponder!:)

I really don't know either. Like the poster above, my Potter canon isn't very enthusiastic these days- HBP left me a little...miffed. The Footnote, I call it.

While it is better than Half Blood Prince, I think we've all done such a good job of developing a concrete fandom that we don't need Jo anymore! I was aying a similar thing about PotC yesterday with someone else.

I'll geek over the name later tonight- I have to go move alot of shit now. *tiiiired*

See, I don't understand that, because I'm not into the whole fanfiction thing. How can you not need Jo when HP is her baby, the universe we love started in her head? For all the flaws of HBP Jo is very very clever and HP is a treasure. She's the only one who can unfold the story, she's the one telling it. I wouldn't like to think that fanfiction could be better than anything she could create...Do you know what I am saying? :P

Hopefully we'll be pleasantly surprised by book seven! But I think the fanfiction will re-write it in the end, which kind of makes me a bit sad, I don't know why!:/ It's got to be far better than HBP, hasn't it? *fingers crossed*

OMG, you genius you! That makes so much sense! It sounds so plausible, and since Jo knows an awful lot about folklore it could be what she means by Deathly Hallows. It just fits together, and is the best theory I have read so far! Wow. *gives you a million cookies*

I saw Elidor in a charity shop the other day, btw, and am kicking myself now for not buying it!

I'm not sure what to make of the title at all! But I never am, so I am always a bit clueless about it! Hallows = sacred somethings so... Deathly Sacred Somethings? Sacred Death? Might it have something to do with Lily & James' deaths -- Lily's in particular. We keep hearing that she will come into play more and more, that her death will be more significant. Or maybe it has something to do with Harry's possible demise -- in his death, ending Voldy's life?

Oh dear, who knows?

You may have read this elsewhere but I found it on a non-HP-related comm and thought I'd copy/paste it as I thought it was a very neat idea! I don't know where this person found this theory, though.

"This is also an idea, the Hallows could refer to the Four Hallows of Arthurian legend. They are intimately connected to the Grail and ultimately probably go back to the Four Treasures of the Tuatha de Danaan of Irish myth.

The Four Hallows are:
The Cup or Chalice (Hufflepuff's cup that Riddle stole from Hepzibiah Smith)
The Baton or Wand (Ravenclaw?)
The Sword or Dagger (Gryffindor's sword)
The Coin, Disc or Pentacle (Slytherin's locket)

These hallows match up quite nicely to the remaining horcruxes."

*giggles* I got really excited when I read that as it sounds like the most plausible explanation. It only gives us more guess work, but that's fun. I am wondering how these sacred objects would be made deathly, but they could be if they were related to Voldy and his horcruxes. I also think "hallows" still relates to the night Lily and James died, and the significance of it. It's so fascinating!:D
