Word count

Aug 02, 2009 21:30

I've got a (probably somewhat silly) question. I use 2 word processors. I wrote a drabble, and one said I had exactly 100 words. I ran it through my other word processor because I like the spellcheck better, but it told me I only had 97 words. I counted by eye and had over 100.

... What do I do?

...this is actually the difference between compute programs and their algorithms for counting words. What I suspect the issue is, is that you might have some words with hyphens? For example, words like "cross-reference" and such will count as one word in some processors and two words in others. :)

Ah, nope. No hyphens or anything like that.

And, um, sorry for posting this, but I had a freak out moment when I was working on the first prompt (I'm trying to catch up). I thought it was somewhat important... But then again I'm kind of a spazz... Soo feel free to delete this.
