Challenge 137: Negative Space
I’d like to try something new with this week’s challenge. We have a great group of very talented icon artists here, so I think we can do it! :D
This week, we’ll have a challenge that focuses on an icon technique, instead of something Trekverse-specific, this relates to the way we make the icons. For this challenge, all icons must display NEGATIVE SPACE. This means that the majority of the icon is NOT filled with an image.

The negative space can be from the image itself, or manipulated in a way to make it empty. Questions? Message the mod, I’m here to help!
No caps this time, feel free to use any images you want!
RULES:
- You may enter up to 4 (four) icons for this challenge.
- Only members may enter.
- The same cap may be used more than once provided the crop is significantly different.
- Use screen captures or promo images.
the usual, but please remember:
- All icons must fit LJ req's: 100 x 100, 40k, and PNG, JPG or GIF format.
- Animation, brushes, textures, text, any caps are allowed. Must display negative space!
- All icons must be original to THIS challenge.
- Icons must remain anonymous until after voting.
- Submit your icons to THIS post in a screened comment with URL and image.
- Icons due Sunday, January 30 Monday, January 31, 10 pm EST. You get an extra 24 hours, as I won't be by my computer until then. Look for a new challenge on Monday as well!
