Attacked by a Cosmo

Today I discovered that when attempting to prune a flowering plant that is taller than yourself ducking and running is a good idea. I was attacked by a cosmo. I won't even mention the bumble bee. Neither of them get pictures. God, I hope nothing is crawling on me. I guess I'll find out soon enough. LOL

Here's what's going on in other parts of the ( Read more... )

You're so good at taking care of plants.
You've got flowers taller than you?!
Wow.

Beautiful! Sorry about the Cosmo attack!

Its obvious you put a lot of work into it. I hope I'll find a way to manage gardening with a little one to carry in the spring. :)

Thanks. :)It was so unexpected that it was quite funny. That was some of the cosmo seeds you sent. They are very happy out there. I cut a couple of them down so the perennials underneath could get more sun. :-D

P.S. I'm sure you will be able to sneak in some gardening time. You can put the little on in his carrier so he can watch. :)

Are you pruning that cosmo that hasn't bloomed yet. Your thyme looks so lush and healthy, have you frozen or dried some for later in the year?

No, not one. I pruned one of the long leggy ones on the other side of the yard, the storm we had last month knocked it over and it grew back. I'm still hoping that the slow bloomers will put forth some color.
What I've been doing with the herbs is cutting off a bit as needed and freezing what's left over.

You might trim the Thyme back a little to make it bushier.

Will do. I'm hoping it will come back again next year.

Heck, you got Rosemary to come back, everybody gets thyme to come back.

I think I got lucky with the rosemary. I paid attention to the weather reports and when they said the temp was dropping to below 20 degrees I dragged the pot inside for a few days and then put it back out there when it warmed up a bit. I watered it once when it was in the mud room. I'm going to try again this year. It can't hurt to try. I really wish I had somewhere outside to put it. If the front bed wasn't so far from the kitchen I'd plant it there.

That rosemary and thyme are doing very well!

That's special that you got a photo of the goldfinch :)
