Clipping back some of the annuals paid off. The colchicum bulb I planted last year has come back. I think there might be two of them now. I need to do some weeding but I was not prepared for the bees and mosquitoes out there today.
These really hate hot dry soil and the lack of rain. I think I bought 5 last year? Put one in the back and it's fine. Upfront only 3 sprouted, one struggled and never bloomed. I've been going out every day with the watering can to see if they can be coaxed. I doubt it. A lesson learned. Do not plant expensive bulbs up front. :/

That colchicum is very special.
I did not know that iris roots need to be left showing. Thanks for the tip - if I ever grow any iris.
Your garden is beautiful :)
