I love this fishpepper, seeds of which Ladyapple sent in the spring. I hope I can save some seeds from it to grow again next year. I haven't tasted it yet. They just started to turn red this past week.

If I recall Dusky has a short time to maturity, so fingers crossed.

I guess I better fertilize to give them a better chance.

They're about 2 inches long now. :-)

The rot in the tomatoes is probably blossom end rot caused by the excess rain washing out all the calcium in the soil. I always had good luck adding eggshells to the soil in my container grown tomatoes.

Thanks. That's really good to know. Now I wish I'd been making good use of the eggshells I throw away daily. I knew plants liked them but not that much. :)

Cool veggie pics! Those chillies look wonderful. Gah on the tomatoes. They are hard to grow here, too.At least you got to pick one. And good luck on the eggplant. I hope that what eqfe says comes true :)

Thank you. Next year I'm going to take his advice instead of throwing them away.

You're so welcome. I love Fish Peppers. They're one of the few variegated plants grown from seed; most are propagated by cuttings or grafting. Have you tired them yet? I thought that they were similar to cheyenne peppers. Since they aren't hybrids, you should be able to save seeed for next year. Good luck!

I did nibble at one of them and it was quite good. I haven't used any for cooking but my daughter and EM went out last week and picked some for eating. I'm not really supposed to eat peppers but I enjoy growing them. Definitley going to try to save some seeds. How old does the pepper have to be before the seeds can be saved for growing?
