I'm not sure what the issue was this year, but I think for me, I definitely forgot about the fest here and there. I know it's probably because of drop gaps and delays, but that's not exactly something that you can do much about, unfortunately. I don't think disinterest in Star Trek is an issue - I mean, it's persisted this long, hasn't it? :)
Still, I had a great time, and I got to work with someone I already knew fairly well (a pleasant surprise!), so I hope to see this fest again next round. Thank you for your work on the reversebang ♥
I was looking back at all the challenges/fests posted to the kirkspock community and noticed the Reverse Bang wasn't advertised anywhere on the comm in 2012 - last time there was a post about it was January 2011. It's a shame as the Kirk/Spock community has one of the best artist to author ratios in Star Trek fandom.
I was wondering, are you planning on running a reverse bang for 2013?
That will definitely be something that will be remedied for the next round. Advertising is always a bit of complicated mess.
My plan was to wait til after the next movie comes out to run another one since interest and participation in both bigbang challenges for the fandom have been rather low.
That makes good sense. :) I co-ran eagle-rbb which was a lot of fun, but also a lot of work, so I do sympathise with you trying to co-ordinate it all, especially as there are so many Trek communities on LJ! :)
kirkspock has over three and a half thousand members and while many of them have drifted off to other fandoms, the community is still ticking over nicely (I co-run the ksadvent every year and we still managed to get almost seventy entries in December, a third of which was artwork). That said, I'm hoping many will return to the fold this year and that we'll get lots of new blood too. :) I'm so excited about the new movie! :D
Thank you for the work you've put in to make these fests happen - they're such a great part of Trek fandom.
