*walks in, picking up the tricorder to scan him while saying* "Ok, what sort of symptoms do you ha-...." *before she realizes it's the Captain and she near drops the tricorder* "Oh! Sir, I...I didn't know it was..." *awkward much*
*Quietly the former captain of the ship kept his eyes up on the ceiling, wide-eyed as if he were listening to something that wasn't there. It felt like home being back on the ship and being amongst the stars. He opened his mouth to tell the woman to be quiet just for a moment longer before he turned and.. saw the tricorder. His eyes went wide as he started to scramble up the bed to press his back against the headboard. The nurse had told him not to move from that spot. Jim just took the whole bed being 'that spot'.*
*alarmed at his reaction* Sir? Sir are you...goodness, you aren't well, are you? *her hand with the tricorder is forgotten off to the side, she doesn't realize that's the cause of his anxiety* Captain? What's wrong?
*As long as that tricorder is in her hand Jim is going to keep his distance. Her face is familiar, all their faces are, but.. the names.. He took a shaking breath keeping his eyes on the instrument the entire time.*
Everything is wrong. Nothing is right- all jumbled up like a puzzle in a box. Toss a few pieces aside, down the drain, forget it all and make them remember. You can't just shove needles in me then expect me to be able to function.
*alerting Dr. McCoy at this point, definitely something going on here though it seems he's already in this thread*
*she changes her tone, now its softer, like when dealing with a frightened animal, putting down the tricorder to hold her hands out palms up to show him* Ok, ok....no need to freak out, see? No needles. Nothing. *turns her hands front and back so he can be sure*
