Thank you! Color is one of the hardest things to get consistently in our studio, since the glaze batches are inconsistent and the kilns don't always hit the right firing point. I was very happy with the way this glaze came out, consequently.
(Buttery toast = love. I had some for breakfast this morning. XD)
It's not quite what I could have achieved with a salt kiln like we had back at Cornell, but yeah. Came out well. :) I still owe you one of these, but the one I made and then forgot to deliver no longer pleases me, so I may have to make another. Not today though - today we're at 12" of snow and counting. Nobody is going anywhere in the foothills today. O_o
I can't take credit for the concept - I believe these have been around for a good several hundred years, if truth be told - but this particular design, at least, is all mine. XD
*secretive, shifty-eyed look goes here* I do sell them, but I also participated in a certain meme a while back, so no need to place orders just yet. XD
So the butter is actualy upside down in the lid, and err hangs over the water? That's certainly an improvement on butter dishes where the butter goes oleaginous. And that's a beautiful colour for anything. (Your table is pretty damned gorgeous too.)
(Can't afford butter myself, as in, if I buy it it's gone in a few days. Hence 'I Can't Believe It's Not Butter' for me.)
The idea is you fill the water in the reservoir high enough so it will actually seal the inverted lid's cup, possibly even touching the butter. Works like a charm, and you just have to remember to give it a good washing about every two or three times you fill it.
(I love my table - it's Amish in design and construction, and because it's cherry, its color changes just a little every year. Natural hardwoods are such love. XD)
