Can someone logically answer this question:
I understand greed, I've been greedy, and I understand the need to be known and power over others makes your self esteem go up. Whatever it is, it sucks a lot being the one who is screwed over.
So if you have any answers beside those two I would really like to hear them.
The sad long tale of being ripped off but it's okay I diserve it.
SOOOooo long long ago (4-5 months), Me and my friend Jason lived together in this apartment. Woah everything was fine and dandy. 800 dollars a month rent, for a 2 room 2 bath apartment, which was the nerd hand out each weekend.
When it was time to move out I figured they would charge us more than we should be charged because everyone loves ripping everyone off. So we had an extra 300 dollars in the account though we thought it was going to be 200 dollars. So a couple weeks before move out I went in and asked how a move out goes down it was the useless repair man there he said just clean it. So I was like okay but how? He was in a hurry didn't give me a proper answer.
Then one week before move out he comes into our place for a pre-check up. On his way out after looking at our stuff for like 1 minute I ask him how it looks he says, "It's a pre check up" then being persistant I asked again and then asked if he would like me to do a quick paint job and fix all the holes. He said no. In a way that sounded like he doesn't trust customers, who would trust people these days anyway...
Well that's great this guy is a dick, jerk complete ass, and shouldn't be a maintanence man. Anywho I went into the office again this lady helped me this time I asked what the procedure for move out is. She said, do a very good cleaning job, like a spring cleaning before a grandma came over. Didn't say anything about a walk through. Also each time I went in they said the minium charge for a move out is 70 dollars for cleaning and a paint touch up job.
So the story continues move out date and everything. We cleaned it from bottom to top, dusted everything moved the washer, oven, dryer, dishwasher, and fridge out cleaned behind them, in them, vaccuumed very good.
So move out day we clean the shit out of it and we were unclear of if we NEEDED a walk through or not but we went to the office 3 times that day to see if someone would walk through with me. Guess what each time no one was in the office we waited 30 minutes the last time... No one...
Now I'm sorry this is from my point of view so it probably sounds very against these complete jack asses.
Well one month after move out we got a bill for how much? 200? Nope 300 nope? Lets try another f'ing month of rent 800 dollars to move out!
Now I know that is ripping us off so I told my dad, he called the apartment complex that he is a partial ownwer of and agreed with me that it was a rip off. Cool beans points for us. We go into the office the lady does her whole spill of it's ALL our faults for not getting a walk through. So we ask for all the receipts of the damage they had to "replace" They said they would send them all to the address we gave them
Well guess what, they never did.
Now comes the part that is all my fault. I (and my dad) never pursued sending a letter or calling their head office, that is our fault.
But now are debt is in a debt office and we have a week or two to pay it before our credit goes bad, I'll probably pay it but then we can take itup in a small claims office. Any hoots the lady I talked to said they didn't have to send us anything, They only have to send it when they send their receipt to the office to collect money. Which is horse shit because they said they would. Trust people right maintenance man? When me and my dad went in to talk about this before the maintanence slacker jack ass said it was a pig stie. Hmmm hmm sure. Just an oppurtunity to rip some kids off.
Well now I'm stuck here being angry. It's our fault we didn't do a walk through. Yay for jack asses. Alright well wish me luck.
