You have to pay for all of the software for WoW as well as the time to play. Eve all you are paying for is by the month. All of the software and updates for Eve are completely free. They have an hour everyday that no one can play to update everything so there isn't days at a time to do major work. And they update the game (simply giving out new software with improvements on them) a lot more than WoW. Even though Eve has a ton of players, it's only a fraction of how many play WoW.

i downloaded all of WOW and i think they have gone th esame way as EvE because i had to download 1.5 gig of patches ontop of the 3 gig game down load.
i stil disagree with the price of the monthly fee considering the amount of people around the world that play these games. i like the games but at $35 a month or what ever it costs i think i would price a lot of people out.
an i am still a frim beliver that you should only have to pay for the game once and then at the very most the fee to play online should be only enough to cover the running costs of the servers.
last night there was 16k people playing EvE that is $560,000 this month alone (At $35) i don't know maybe i am turning into a grumpy old man.
should i be starting to listen to talk back or somthing.
do they even have geek talk back?

Your argument against the current subscription prices of these games pretty much answers the question "Why are they charging this much?"

If you were running a business, and a trillion billion people were willing to pay x amount of money per month to take whatever your business does, and continued to do so month after month, would you lower the price and lower your revenue, while at the same time increasing the load on your business? (or servers in the case of WOW/EvE)
I don't think I would.. :)
