1. Leave me a comment saying anything random. Whatever you'd like.
2. I'll respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.

1) Who is your favorite so far of the presidential candidates and why?
well, i think it's no secret that i'm a big obama fan. i'm very pleased with the vast majority of decisions he's made. there have been several times since he's been senator that i've written him about a particular issue, and not only have i gotten prompt replies (which i know is credit to his staff, not him), but he leans the same direction i lean on most issues. (for the record, two of the topics i can recall writing him about have been making flag burning illegal...i think there's no reason it should be made illegal...that's no different than idolatry to me, and gay marriage.)

that said, i was bummed that he decided to make a run for office in '08. i feel it's too early and he's not well-known enough yet.

other than obama, surprisingly, the candidate i have most in common with is the republican ron paul, who hasn't got a snowball's chance in hell apparently, but if by some chance he came up against hillary, i'd more than likely vote for him. oddly enough.

2) What things would a house have to have to be considered your dream home?
large rooms, an open floor plan, a finished basement, lots of windows, a large yard with plenty of trees. my biggest fantasy about having a home is being able to do yoga out in my yard without feeling like neighbors will see me. also, a large porch (i love sitting on the porch when it's not blazing hot outside) and a sizeable property (beyond front and back yard...i'm talking like pasture space for animals).

3) If money were no object and you were going to travel all over the world, what places would you include in your tour (I'm mainly asking outside the US, but you can include places inside if you'd like)?
i'd like to spend at least a month in each of the following: greece, italy, france, the british isles. beyond that, i want to go to sub-saharan africa, india, china, thailand, tibet, and australia. i have no time frame for those...just be there as long as i felt i needed to.

4) If you were given the power to change one thing about the world right now, what would it be?
this is an exceptional question. here were my options (some of which i realize are not in the scope of your question): neither kennedy would have been assassinated, eradicate the global warming argument (meaning if global warming exists, get rid of it; if it's just a normal aspect of earth's meteorology, get rid of the argument), bush (duh), cessation of all religious warfare.

my answer is to have 9/11 never happen. it has affected relations the world over, and while i obviously can't be certain, i think the world would most definitely have been a better place without it. the fear and irrationality that it has allowed has negatively affected nearly everything i can think of in the world at large.

5) If you could have any animal on the planet as a pet, not have to worry about the cost of feeding or housing it and it would be guaranteed not to attack anyone, what would you pick?
either a siberian or bengal tiger. i think they are the most gorgeous animals alive.
