And to think I want to try this...

If you haven't seen this, you should! It's first-person footage of a guy skydiving, BOTH chutes failing... and still living. Then you see footage from his friend who jumped with him, also filming.

When skydiving goes bad

Hopefully I have better luck when I do this.

And this, my friend, is why I will never ever jump out of a perfectly good plane. :-)

But he lived! Just imagine the stories you could tell. You'd have beer or the alternate beverage of your choice bought for you for, like, a couple days at least. Isn't that worth it?

Okay, aside from the fact that it could kill me, I still really want to do this.

I'll stick to bungee jumping. It's only marginally safer, but at least I'm tethered to something. :-)

There are soooooooooooo many things wrong with jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft with nothing but a piece of silk on my back and a fervent hope that the thing was packed correctly...

But your first time or two, you jump tandem with an instructor. He's pressed right up against your back, breathing against the back of your neck. And these extreme sport guys can be kinda hot. I wouldn't mind being tied up to a hot guy going for the thrill ride of my life, but maybe that's just me.

That's awesome!

I'm hoping to do it sometime this summer. And hey, while it won't be on my birthday, it'll be in my 30th year. I'd call that a milestone. :)

The husband wants to do it. I'll throw both of you out of a plane any time you like... :P

YOU... I'll give a parachute.
