Yes, his fans seem few and far between, but I think it's impossible for his music to ever find a wide audience. But that's part of what I like about him, not feeling special for liking his music but the fact that he's so uncompromising. My dad actually turned me on to him years ago, but it was always so daunting to navigate my way through his discography. I really like how many of his songs seem to go absolutely nowhere, like they transcend the concept of time. And even though his early work is really different, I really like it too. I must admit that as geeky and obsessive as I am, I've tried to collect virtually all his stuff, for posterity. I have the first 47 entries in his discography, including the E.g. Oblique Graph stuff, and a good amount of the rest too, but I've kind of slowed down recently. I think it's safe to say that I have enough to last me a really long time.

I think lj_yourmom is also really into him, but I don't know anyone else.

"King of the Playaz Ball" might be THE 3-6/Prophet Posse/HCP album. "All About Them Prophets" IS the best HCP posse song of all time.

now they are making crap like this...

I never thought I'd see the day Three 6 Mafia jumped the shark trevitron May 27 2008, 00:51:47 UTC
Yeah, I saw that a while back and pretty much gave up hope for the new album, if it ever comes out anyways. King of the Playaz Ball is really good, and sort of quintessential. It even has the sample they use on "Ass & Titties," the one that goes something like, "Say ahh, not the thermometer, bitch, it's the nine inches..."

It's hard to take in large doses, just because they have so much music and it's all completely goofy and off-the-wall. But it's worth digging to find the best DJ Paul and Juicy J beats. Someone needs to make a compilation of their best beats.

Not literally, unfortunately trevitron May 27 2008, 01:01:53 UTC
I dig this, but I dig even more writing a song called "Don't Fart on My Heart." Gonna have to seek that one out.
