This has got to be one of the most depressing things I have seen in a long time.  If a "10th-grade level" speech goes "over the heads" of many  U.S. voters then we have a much larger national crisis than just oil in our water.

Is that true? I had no problem at all understanding what he was saying, and I'm in the 11th grade.
That's what happens when you have no competition from another superpower. We have no need for striving to be the best anymore, so we've grown lax on funding for education.
The sad truth is this: In a country so entrenched in the "number one" mentality, we need a rival. When we don't have one, we grow lazy and incompetent.
