Summaries are due on June 1st. What does "summary" mean? A full detailed outline, or a basic summary like one would put before a link to the full text, or something in between?
For Authors, summaries are due on July 1st ( Schedule Page). The summary is just a few sentences (1-5) about the story you're writing, or what you're thinking about. Think back-of-the-cover synopsis. It will be part of the first check in procedure on July 1st, and is just to make sure you're on track to meet the big pre-art-claims check-in on August 1st. As noted in the FAQs, you will need to have 5,000 words of your story written by August 1st, in order to ensure that the artist who chooses your fic won't be left hanging.
Question (probably should have done this prior to signing up but alas) do our stories have to follow the rules/history of the Triad Verse described in the tumblr or can we have our own rules for a triad verse?
As long as in your Triad Verse the majority of human cultures normalize triad relationships (those between three people), rather than couples, and couples are seen as "incomplete", then your story is acceptable for the Big Bang. If you want to write about a different version of history, or rules that don't conflict with the main definition, be our guest!
For the check-in on August 1st, does it have to be 5,000 words in a continuous set-up? I have a chunk of writing for the beginning, some bits from the middle, and a bit from the end. Does the check-in require joined-up bits? That's not how I usually write, but if I move fast I can write a continuous chunk for the deadline.
Your 5,000 words need not be continuous. We just want to make sure you've got good progress, so artists don't end up claiming a story that won't be finished.
Yesterday I ended up scrapping all but about 200 words of my story beause I finally got the plot to come together. There's no way I'll have 5k by tomorrow night, and I don't really need art with my story. Even if I don't get art, can I still keep writing and have my story be part of the bang, or do I need to drop out?
You can still be part of the bang, but we can't put you on the art claim post until you hit 5000 words. Since we have fewer artists than stories, we will most likely do a second art claim in a week or two for artists who want to claim a second story. Please do check in before tomorrow night with the word count you do have. Good luck writing!
