alright! H5-0 in space...that ISN'T a Star Trek crossover. love it!

I think you left a word out here: "...And for the record? He doesn't sentences that begin with 'you can't'."

I have to reinforce in my head the ranks in this are going to be different than those of the Navy and HPD. Here, they're kind of flipped around lol

more please!

Yes, that's right. NOT a Star Trek crossover. ....Star Trek-inspired, maybe? xD

Thank you!! I'm glad that you're enjoying it :)

Oh! Yes, yes I did leave a word out. Thank you for pointing that out! *blush* I'll fix it :)

Actually, since they're on a ship, they are Navy ranks :) There are middling ranks in between (ie. there are 5 different kinds of Admiral) but the basic ranks of career naval officers, from highest to lowest, are Admiral, Captain, Commander, Lieutenant Commander, Lieutenant, Ensign, and Chief. Of course Steve has to be the ship's Captain, so he's been promoted a few ranks from canon-Steve : D Now I have zero knowledge of HPD ranks, so I'm not sure how different it is from that. But yes, they maintained Navy ranks on starships in Trek, so I've always had it that way in my head whenever I dreamed up space AUs for anything. : D

Thanks again for your lovely comment! I will do my best to write more as soon as possible! :D

come on, you have to admit you've thought about at least once.

LOLLLLLL, no! But I sure will now. I'm just gonna go ahead and picture Danny's beard a liiittle bit thicker (er, but let's not alter precious Steve's hair, hee). :D Also, lol at Data!Chin, ahaha! But oh, I really don't want to imagine Picard/Riker, eh.

Hahaha. No, don't touch Steve's hair! Please, it's beautiful just the way it is ;) Hehe. And haha, yes, Data!Chin is adorable isn't he? : D This really isn't going to be a Trek crossover--not going to steal any of their aliens or anything--but I'll admit I did cast characters into their positions on this particular starship based on what job I thought they'd best be suited to on TNG's Enterprise. I mean, Danny had to be second-in-command, Chin had to be third (and he *is* the resident tech guy in canon!). I couldn't for the life of me figure out who to cast as the random ensign who for some reason gets to drive, so in the end I picked Jenna. xD And of course I've got plans for the other bridge crew as well--you'll just have to wait and see. And of course I know who's going to take the role of doctor, but I just have to work him into the plot somehow so he actually gets an appearance ( ... )

I've thought about doing this! Now I don't have to. Please continue!!! It's going to be great fun, I can tell. We will see Kono soon, right?

And, oh yeah, BTW, when Steve told Catherine he had asked to be assigned to the Enterprise for his reservist duty, I immediately thought he meant the Starship. This is how my brain works!!!

Hee, I'm glad I'm not the only one picturing our 5-0 gang in the dark reaches of space! : D Thank you very much, I'm glad you're enjoying it! I've gotten some lovely responses, so I'll certainly continue now that I know there's interest :) And oh yes, I definitely have plans for Kono : D I'm thinking she'll show up in the next chapter, if things go according to plan. Actually she's on the bridge right now, just no one's mentioned her yet ;)

And hahaha, yes, I've always thought that was an interesting choice of name for her ship! Maybe Lenkov is a trekkie :D Who knows! But I'm definitely with you on having a brain that's run by fandom. That's what brains are for, right? *grin*

Thank you again for the lovely comment! I will do my best to continue this soon :)

Pardon my jumping in here, but the use of Enterprise as a ship's name has a loooooong history. And the USS Enterprise is a real Naval ship currently in use. And it's been used for a lot more than just military and the Star Trek spaceship, as far back as the early 1700s. There have been 15 HMS Enterprise ships, and 8 USS Enterprise ships, the fifteenth and eighth(respectively) are still in use, as well as several exploratory ships that carried the name.

The Enterprise has often been a ship of discovery, so using it for Star Trek was probably an homage to the history of the name itself, as well as the idea of what the ship was.

Aside from all that(and to climb down off my history geek soap box) this looks like it'll be an interesting story. I'm very curious to see where you take this. :D

That's very interesting!! And actually led me to do a bit of research that will help my story--I was curious as to what the distinction was between HMS and USS, so I looked it up. I was just going to give the ship in this story a prefix of USS because that's what the Enterprise had in Trek, and I'd never really given much thought to what it meant. But now I'm realizing that doesn't make very much sense in this little universe of mine! So I went digging around for an acronym that would fit. The only thing I could really find was that SS meant "steam ship", and I think I'm going to steal that to mean "space ship" in this case. I didn't really find anything else that fit!

Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it, and I'm working on chapter two right now : ) Thank you for your comment and the information! I hope you will like the next chapter as well :)
