Rain can only really tell when Mara's blushing from the temperature of her cheeks; the flush that rises is hard to see against the dark-chocolate richness of her skin. Lucky, she thinks, kissing the flesh beneath her lips.
Early in their relationship, she'd resented that none of the marks she leaves on her lover ever really show up for other people, when Mara's love-bites show livid on her own pale neck. Couldn't mark her back.
Now, instead, she leaves them where they can be seen, gently sucked into the soft palms of hands and feet.
Mara doesn't seem to mind.
