He hadn't been a hallucination, but he also hadn't been real. The fact that it was Bray who thought he was Zoot also didn't help matters, considering her past feelings for him. It just added more confusion to the mix. An irrational thought entered into Ebony's mind. What if it *had* been him? What would I have done? It more than slightly irritated Ebony that she couldn't answer her own questions ( ... )

"Bray seems to have recovered from the shot quite nicely," he murmured dryly, glancing towards the hallway with a wry smile as another round of Zootisms echoed through the Mall. The key to Power and Chaos... Yes, he seemed to be doing just fine; Amber must have put the gun on a very, very low setting. But 'Zoot' was safely locked up, and as long as no one let him out, it didn't matter terribly much whether he was awake or not. Jay looked back to Ebony, half of his mind continuing to look for warning signs of mental instability in his lover while the other half began deciding upon the best way to approach Ved about Bray ( ... )

Another shout of "The Key to Power and Chaos is Devotion," echoed through to Ebony and she closed her eyes for a moment to set up a mental block against its attack. Lifting her arm to his and putting on a look of general emotional and mental togetherness. "Shall we?" she asked, turning in the direction of the stairs.
