About the trip to Rome... Do we need to get shots? Is it like Africa or some other country full of diseases? Are the food and water safe or do we have to worry about parasites?

What's the weather like? How should I pack? I don't even know how to pack ( Read more... )

Wow, so many questions!

Rome is located in Italy, which is an industrialized nation in Europe. Diseases shouldn't be something you need to worry much about. I'm sure they have winter weather there, so you'll want to pack clothes for winter. If you take medicine, you'll need to pack enough to last the trip.

You'll have to find the drinking law out yourself.

I'm sure there will be security here while we're gone. Also, I doubt Japanese cellphones work outside Japan.

Italian is spoken in Rome, but there's so many visitors you'll probably hear all sorts of languages. Don't expect the average person to speak Japanese.

It will be a long flight, I'm sure. You won't be able to smoke on the plane. We'll make sure nobody is held up at customs or ends up being left behind.

Don't worry about it. If you still need help packing, find someone who will help you. Get some sleep, too!

Thanks, Gekkou-sensei.

Of course Rome is located in Italy but any person can make the mistake and think it's a seperate country... Winter? We're leaving Winter-Gotei for another Winter place? Che. Do you know if they at least have skiing?

If they're industrialized that means they have working phones, right? Internet too?

Italian... so all we gotta do is brush up on Mario-lingo. The average person should speak Japanese. What if there's an emergency?

What are we going to do for entertainment on the plane? What if someone gets sick - on the plane or sometime during the visit? What if a war between Italy and Japan breaks out? Will they atleast allow a person to wear a Nicotine patch on the plane?

Yes, there are working telephones and working computers with working internet in Rome.

That's one thing you can do: learn some Italian on the plane ride over. I plan on going to the nearest town before we leave on the third; if you'd like I can pick you up a book or CD.

I sincerely doubt a war between Italy and Japan will break out unless one or more of you do something devastatingly terrible.

Nicotine patches should be OK--where do you get your cigarettes from, anyway? You shouldn't smoke. It has horrible effects on your health. I'd better not catch you doing so!

... I hope you're right.
That would be the smart thing to do, ne? Learning the actual language before going there... But I don't want to be too busy learning something over headphones in case there's an announcement saying the plane is crashin' into the ocean.

Do you mind pickin' up one of those little travel-guide-basic-language books? I'll spring ya the cash when I see you next.

I don't know much about politics... again, I hope you're right.

I get 'em from in town. It may have horrible effects but the Judo cancels them out. I'm perfectally healthy. And Ichimaru-sensei hasn't said anything about it and even if he did... I can't see how someone else can break someone from their habit.

You're gonna love aeroplanes. Seriously, they're great! Especially at the take-off, when the thing shoots to the sky almost vertically and you sort of stick to your seat... The landing isn't so awesome though. Your ears hurt like hell and at least mine start ringing. But other than that, it's brilliant.

You smoke? You know you shouldn't, so I'm not going to say anything about it.

Do you have a lot of experience with flying, Genma-sensei?

You don't? I'm sure everyone has a bad habit.

I'm pretty sure most of your questions have been answered, but on the language thing I heard the headmasters arranged for us to have guides who can translate.

... Guides? That's not a whole lot of fun.
That's another word for sayin' extra-supervision, which I'm sure is great for you teachers but what the Hell are we students supposed to do for fun?

I know, I know. We still gotta learn somethin' but how many times do normal people get to travel to places like that? Not many! Is there anything to do in Rome other than 'learn' their history?

Last time we did any traveling the guides were local students. Besides, it's not like we're going to follow you everywhere.

I've heard Rome has a good nightlife, and certain instructors will probably drum up fights. If worse comes to worse there is always sightseeing.

I hear lots of people in Italy speak English, and since I'm from India so do I ^_^, so you can hang out with me, Renji-kun. I'll need help getting Nemu and Hinata to live while we're there I bet.

Italy has fast cars and lots of vinyards, other than that I dunno what's there. I bet they have castles and temples though!
