Good Morning:Tatty and Anna

Aug 13, 2004 02:39

Tatty opened his eyes, there were strange noises around him, crying, talking, moving, banging of cooking pots, and at first he had forgotten where he was, a panic flashed through him, his heart racing, pounding in his ears. Tatty rolled over and came directly into contact with a warm body, he was ready to sit up and scream out, gasping instead as ( Read more... )

Anna awoke to the sound of the rocking chair creaking and daily noises in the mall that she was slowly getting used to. As she sat up in bed, she glanced over at her friend who was sat in the rocking chair. He looked okay this morning, calm and relaxed even, she was glad about that. She rubbed her eyes and tucked her hair behind her ear; she smiled sleepily at Tatty "good morning is everything alright?"

Tatty's hands grasped the arms of the rocking chair, though not too tightly, and he smiled as Anna started to come around. He hadn't meant to wake her, but he was secretly glad she was awake now. He nodded and slowly smiled to her question, he was greatly comforted just hearing her voice. "Sounds like breakfast," he told her simply, nodding at the doorway. He could see a bit down the hallway from here, out of his own doorway, a thought which made him nervous. He didn't like being alone, and though the building was full of people, Tatty still felt all alone in a room that was his very own.

A grin spread across Anna's face "breakfast! I'm really hungry" she paused for a moment, twisting her fingers around her rainbow coloured bracelets, she remembered the conversation she'd had with Tatty the day before, about his fears.

"Are you going to come to breakfast this morning, or would you like me to bring you something?" she asked as she moved along to the end of the bed, dangling her feet over the edge. Anna looked down at her legs; she smiled to herself realizing that she had slept in her clothes.

Tatty rocked a bit, letting the question hang in the air, it was almost as if he could see it there, turning around in a circle, are you coming to breakfast? He had to, he had already told himself today was his day, "Yes, I will come," he agreed, standing up suddenly. He buttoned a few buttons on his shirt that had come undone in the night, straightened his pants and checked his belt, turning to grab his shuttle pocket and button it onto his belt, tucking his shuttle, already preloaded with thread, into the pocket. He sat down on the floor and put his boots on, worn and dirty. Tatty was attached to the boots, Ryan had already brought him home a new pair once, but that was a fight he didn't want to think about right now ( ... )

Flower barely noticed Willow racing ahead up the rest of the stairs, because she was trying too hard not to giggle at the sass that Brady had just given her. Anyone else rolling her eyes at her would have upset her, but Brady was just too cute. "Okay, sorry Brady. A girl. Well how about Alissa?" Before Brady could answer they had reached the top of the stairs and Flower could finally see why Willow had raced ahead. Tatty was out of his room, and he was with Anna. That was indeed exciting and even though Flower was glad Brady was warming up to her, and glad that she was making friends with her... She was suddenly finding herself wishing that she wasn't the only one with her, because it was momentarily keeping her from catching up with her siblings. Flower started glancing around to see if she could spot Mouse or someone else that Brady knew to take care of her now.

Brady jumped triumphantly as she got to the top of the stairs, she hadn't ever gone up the stairs with Flower, it felt almost like a major accomplishment. She glanced up as they approached three other kids, Willow and two kids she didn't know, and her eyes grew wide and she instantly grew quiet. Her thumb found it's way into her mouth, a sudden nervous habit she was unfortunately picking back up on. Brady didn't know these kids, and she looked up shyly at them, one was a girl, and one was not a girl, and they both had a lot of hair. Brady looked at the boy and got a wary look, "Hihi," she told him around her thumb, then looked up at the other girl, pulling her thumb out of her mouth and slipping the hand back into Flower's, grasping it. She held her doll out at the girl, "I have a baby," she told her, "Flower named her Melissa," and with that she nodded firmly.

Willow stopped as they reached Flower and Brady, smiling at the way Brady greeted Anna and Tatty, "This is Anna, and Tatty," she introduced, "This is Brady," she added back. "Brady, are you hungry? We're going to go eat breakfast in the extra cafe, do you need to find your mummy or are you allowed to eat with us?" Willow wasn't sure if Brady would even know if she was allowed to eat with them or not, but just incase she did, Willow wanted to try. Willow winked at Flower, "Cute name, Melissa," she told her, a smirk on her face. She'd never known a Melissa before, but whether Flower had or not Willow didn't know. Whatever, it was a cute name for a baby doll.

As Willow introduced Anna to Brady, she raised her hand and gave a small wave, "hi Brady" she smiled warmly, looking downwards at the little girl. She wasn't so shy about meeting new people; she liked meeting new people most of the time, especially people who weren't a threat to her. Anna glanced at Tatty to make sure he was okay, and then she looked back to Brady, Willow was right Brady was cute.

Mouse ran out of the kitchen towards the stairs. Then she stopped short as she saw Willow, Flower, and...Brady! Plus two others whom she didn't know, a boy and a girl. They must be more of the new children. How many had Salene said there were? six? With a grin, she walked over to Brady and the others.
"There you are Brady! Sorry for leaving you downstairs, I thought you were behind me... I was helping Moon in the kitchen." A pause. "Salene said its time to eat. Come on, lets go." She held out her hand to Brady. Then suddenly remembered her manners. "Hi," Mouse said to the other two, "I'm Mouse."

Anna looked at Mouse, Willow had said she'd been in a bad mood earlier, but she looked okay now, happy even. Maybe Mouse wants to be friends with us she thought to herself. Anna smiled, putting her hand to her chest, "hi, I'm Anna" she spoke, hoping to sound friendly and then pointed at Tatty, "and this is Tatty".

Tatty looked up as Brady greeted them, holding a plastic doll out at him, and he looked into her deep blue eyes, shifting his gaze to Anna before smiling. Willow was right, she was cute, and she didn't seem like any kind of threat. In fact, if she joined them for breakfast, he wouldn't mind at all, though he wouldn't want to be around her all of the time, or alone. He was about to lean in and tell Anna this when another little girl bounced over, her skin was darker, and she looked like someone he'd known before, only younger. Tatty shook his head and watched the interaction between Anna and the others, glad that he didn't have to speak for himself. He jutted his chin out slightly at Mouse, closing his eyes in his own kind of greeting, and his fingers nervously flew to his shuttle pocket, unbuttoning it and pulling out the shuttle. He began to work on a new piece, starting off with a round, calming himself with the movement.

Flower giggled when Brady introduced her doll to Anna as Melissa, that wasn't what she'd named her but Brady was close and that was good enough. Flower slipped her hand out of Brady's for a second and bounced over to Anna and wrapped her arms around her neck giving her a quick hug. "Anna! We have so much to tell you from last night! Right, Willow?" She bounced back over to Brady and took her little hand again, as she looked over to Tatty, "Hey Tatty! I'm glad you came out today, there's so much to show you!"

When Mouse ran over to collect Brady, Flower felt bad, but she was sort of relieved. She had been dying to tell Anna about the Zoot picture, and about the crazy lady from outside. She wasn't entirely sure it would be a very good idea to tell Tatty because he didn't need to be worrying about it. She didn't think they should talk about those things in front of Brady though, and she wasn't sure if they should in front of Mouse either. "Oh Mouse! We brought her upstairs for you," she said with a smile.
