Raver's like some ghost skeleton zombie house type shit. it should make Burial's genius even more obvious. not everyone knows 2-step but everyone knows doof-doof.
you can love him even without knowing anything about UK garage or jungle or dubstep or hardcore. there's so much to latch onto, or get lost within--melodies, voices, samples, atmosphere, crackle. it's so refreshing to have someone making electronic music that's truly rich in every way.
i remember realizing that a few months after the hype died and thinking i've been a fool, UNTIL I PUT IT ON AGAIN. no denying it. but because my head hates me, there's always little doubts until just now.
i still wish things were as simple as just liking something because it agrees with me, but i'm always plagued by the WHOLLY UNECESSARY spectre of backpacking because i think i'm just riding different hype trains. takes me that extra bit of time i dont need to waste to know that i *actually* like it and that i'm *interested* in knowing more.
i blame the fiery furnaces.
but yeah, burial. just put the debut on the bus ride back and realized that it's what i wanted. transitory weather always fucks with my musical mood and i never quite know what i want to hear.
