Is Gray's poem about rich people dying and becoming the same as everyone else or about poor people and how sad it is that their lives were wasted due to poverty? It is kind of sad to think that one thing we all have in common is the fact that we will all die.

I thought it was of everybody becoming the same in the end, but I'm probably wrong. I agree that it is sad that death is the one thing we all have in common. But I do not know how we might change that. Oh well, have a great reading week!!

I think you're both right. Gray is pointing out that we all come to death, but he is also defending the humble villagers who lie there in the churchyard against the casual scorn of the rich and noble.
