'The Wasteland'

Hey everybody, why does such pretty weather have to coincide with sooo many assignments? Just a question my tired brain wanted to know, yes I know I'm being self-pitying but I can't seem to help it. yeah I mean its a good poem, but not great in my opinion. Like I said, I really really like the third section because I find it still truthful and relevant in the times I feel the world to be bleak. When I read the abortion section I didnt get mad at the lady (I also didnt even think about forms of birth control other then the pull out method because of the time period) I was more confused about why she keeps aborting these pregnancies. I mean she's married but doesnt want the kids, perhaps it has to do with the fact that she doesnt want her kin growing up in that depression, that Waste Land where they will find no kindness, and no love, even from their mother.

I also thought that the reason she kept getting abortions was because they couldn't afford to have any more children? But your idea sounds more in tune with what the poem was saying. Ciao,
