I'm not a huge fan of Apple products in general, I think they're significantly overpriced for what you get, but I do love my iPod. I guess my question for you though is, given that you're drooling over it, what is your compelling reason to buy one? I don't see that it does anything I can't already do on an existing device.

THIS. I am hardcore Apple but fail to see why everyone is drooling over this rather than, say, a netbook. A friend of mine tried to explain that netbooks are underpowered but I was trying out a friend's and thought it was sufficient.

Compared to a laptop a netbook is underpowered. But I so is the iPad. It doesn't have the functionality of a laptop, the memory, the storage space, the CPU speed, the built in keyboard, and it's more expensive! I bought a new laptop with 3Gb RAM, 320Gb HDD, and a 15" screen for $450 last November. Why would I want to spend more on a device which does less?

Gizmodo has 8 Things that Suck About the iPad, which is 8 points that might make people reconsider buying it. (Like lack of USB ports, no Flash [because of Apple proprietary issues, namely Apple Hates Flash], and no multitasking)
