Peter always knew that he wore his heart on his sleeve. It was his weakness, his father told him. He had too much heart. He acted too much on his emotions. It had always been a bad thing.

Sometimes, he couldn’t help but hate himself for it.

Maybe this was one of the times. One of the times that he hated being Peter because Peter always acted according to what he felt and what he felt towards Mohinder was more than platonic friendship. And that was why he had leaned in closer when they were talking, breaking the geneticist off in mid-sentence and kissing him lightly on the lips even as the blood rushed to his head and he realised what he was doing only after those few infinite seconds.

“Oh shit, I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” Peter pushed away, flustered. Stupid, bad, wrong. The words that haunted him swam back into his mind again. He swallowed.

“It’s fine. I knew all along.”

Peter expected anger, disgust or even fear, but not this. “How did you know that?”

“It’s written all over your face.” Mohinder said with a nervous smile.

“I wonder if that’s a good thing.” Peter replied softly.

“Trust me, Peter, it is.” Mohinder whispered back even as he leaned in for another kiss, lips skirting teasingly as Peter inhaled his exotic scent that was a blend of spiced tobacco smoke and cologne.

In that moment, Peter believed that it was a good thing after all.
