there's this bit in the talmud about how even the righteous egyptians (the ones who actually feared G-d and took shelter from the hail plague) should have been killed because they are the ones who eventually chased the Jews into the sea. i.e. even a good egyptian is an egyptian. even a good republican is a republican.
