When Caleb woke up, he thought his head was going to split in two. Safe to say, he felt miserable and it only got worse when the events of the last two days cought up with him. Groaning, he curled up into a ball, his head reasting on Garth's shoulder. For the moment he decided that trying to drown your sorrows in brandy was a very dumb idea.

Caleb's movement woke up Garth a bit, and he bit down a groan of his own. "Wasps," he mumbled, face in Caleb's neck. "Nesting in my brain. Ow."

"No shit..." Caleb grumbled in response. "Did that brandy turn into absinthe? Or rat poison?"

"If it did, I didn't do it." He groaned quietly and rolled onto his back, hand on his face. "Augh. Sunlight bad. Hhrrruugh."

Oh god, morning-after breath. Caleb felt queasy. "The room needs to stop spinnin'... Right now."

"We have a deal. Take my hand please." He held out his hand, gathering his focus.

She tentatively lifted her hand into the air. "Um, where is it?"

Smiling, he reached out and took her hand.

A simple giving of energy wouldn't work, he thought. Focusing, he looked inside and observed the energy-paths.
There it was, something he hadn't noticed the last time he was in contact with her. He didn't understand why, because it seemed so obvious. It was like a completely different layer under the normal paths a human has, full of untapped power but blocked off. He had no idea where to even begin there, he had never seen anything like it. Instead, he focused on her eyes. There were paths that seemed blocked there as well.

Tentatively, he let energy seep along the paths, growing irritated when it didn't reach through the blocks. A sharper burst didn't have much effect either, but spread out through the rest of her body.
Having dealt with the past days events and the added hangover for the day, Caleb had only one more shot at getting through. One more slightly forceful burst and he had to withdraw, letting go of her hand.

On her side of things, Leela began to feel a tingle, almost as if her arms and legs had been asleep. She could feel something, she just wasn't sure what. A warm wind blew across her nerves, and she shivered suddenly.

Feeling his hands draw away, she had the sudden desire to hold tighter, not to let go, not to lose that caring human contact. Controlling herself, Leela took a deep breath and slowly opened her eyes.

Nothing had changed, nothing was different. Everything was still the black, the void that she had slowly grown used to over the past few months. "Th.." Her voice slightly choked up, she tried again. "Thank you, Caleb. Thank you so much for trying."
