Super quick "tutorial" for scoobyatemysnax who wanted to know how I made following icon

My method of doing silhouette icons is basically the laziest method ever.
You start out with your preferred cap. It should be one where the silhouette is already pretty clear and not obscured by a hundred objects in the background.

Arrange it on your 100x100 canvas and put a simple Black and White adjustment layer over it. Then crank the brightness and the contrast up as much as possible.

You basically want the base to look like one of those super pretentious GQ fashion photoshoots.
Now you add a new Treshhold Adjustment layer. I usually put it at a value of around around 50-60, in this case it was 53. Then change the opacity of the Treshhold layer to about 50%.

Now you have a rough outline of the silhouette. Simply make a new layer and brush over the dark grey bits of his body until his whole silhouette is black and clearly seperated from the wall.

Then find another screencap of your choice, like Ed Norton in his underpants having a mental breakdown in front of a bank, place it over the silhouette and set it to screen.

Now all you need to do is fiddle with the lighting and you're done!

As always, don't hesitate to ask me if something was unclear. ♥
