Even though he spent the majority of his day out of the house, Lightning only came back with one item and it wasn't even for him. Having to avoid anyone he recognized seeing him and watched how he responded to questions (ex. the person behind the register asking why he was buying the certain item), he was glad that he got out of that all right. Or ( Read more... )

Ophelia had just used the last of her quarters on the Dance Dance Revolution machine in the mall, so stuffing her wallet back into her purse, she made her way out of the arcade, and looked through the windows of some of the stores. She wasn't finding anything particularly interesting, when she noticed a cute dress on one of the mannequin displays. Smiling, she went into the store.

Okay. Call her. Okay, then, don't call her. Ding-dong ditch sounded a lot more of a good idea than calling her, because then he would actually have to admit he got her something and ask her to come over, where he would have to hand it to her in person.

Then again, he did want to find out how she liked it, and how was he going to find that out if he wasn't going to be there to watch her open it? Besides, it was stupid of him to feel nervous. Why feel nervous? It wasn't as if he had anything to lose if she didn't like the gift.

... But Lightning would be really pissed if that happened. At whom he would be angry at, he wasn't sure.

Inhaling deeply, he went to call before he changed his mind. Might as well go and get it over with.

She perked a bit when she heard 'Cheer up Emo Kid' coming from her purse, and pulled out her phone, and smiled a bit, seeing who it was calling her. "Hey! What's up?"

He was sort of hoping that she wasn't going to be there to pick up, but it was too late to turn back when she did. All right. Uh. What to say? Hmm. Casual! Talk casual. Maybe he can figure out what to say afterwards. "Nothing at the moment. I just came back home and, well, I was curious about what you were up to."

Whoa, wait. What did he just tell her? Why did he say that? Cue the embarrassment.

It took her maybe about an hour to get there. She had bought the dress she had been looking at in the mall, and had gone home to change into it, as well as grabbed two pices of cake (vanilla with strawberry icing), and put them in a small, decorative cardboard box, with lacey decorative paper underneath the neatly cut slices.

When she got out of the cab, she fixed her hair the best she could *which she wore in plain pigtails instead of loops for once), and knocked on the door. "I hope he isn't mad I took a while," she mumbled to herself, now feeling sort of nervous.

An hour wasn't necessarily a long time; it did give him enough time to straighten up. Or, rather, to put stuff underneath the couch or shove everything into a nearby closet and leave it for Thunder to clean up later. Lightning would probably be out/not around for when Thunder discovers a surprise left for him when he got home.

And today was definitely not the day where he was the most graceful, because when he went to answer, he tripped over something he conviently missed picking up when he was straightening up, and fell down. He cursed something loudly in another language before getting back to his feet, dusting himself off, and answering the door.

"Er, well, it took me awhile to answer," he said; not saying an apology directly, but that's as close as he's probably going to get to one.

"That's okay," she said, "it took me a while to get here." She went inside after he answered the door, fixing her hair a bit more with one hand. She stood there for a bit, just looking around at first. She had been to his home a few times, but she hadn't been inside before. Snapping out of it after a moment, she held the box out to him. "Oh! I grabbed this for you when I stopped by my house. It's cake. There's a pice for you and Thunder. I hope you guys like it."

"Cake?" Now this was probably the first time in awhile that somebody brought sweets over for them to eat. He took the box and looked aside. Cake. Yes, that was a good treat! "It does look rather delicious. Thank you; I think my brother will also enjoy this... whenever he comes back, that is," he muttered in passing, wondering again where his brother was.

Putting that thought aside, he glanced back over and her not at all noticing the dress, not at all, and quickly turned his attention towards the present. Er, the present that's underneath the blanket. Oops.
