My Sigur Rós tattoo is finally healed enough that the background isn't a mess of angry red skin.

I love it so much. The sky is probably my favorite part.
My other tattoo is kind of visable.
It says, "They ate every letter of every alphabet and still had an appetite!" from the artwork in Bright Eyes' Lifted or The Story Is In The Soil, Keep Your Ear To The Ground. I've been meaning to post a pic of that one, so I might as well get it all done in one go.

And now for an explanation of why I got it and what it means to me, just because I feel like it.

Both of my other tattoos were done at times in my life when I was nowhere near happy.  I got the Appetite one right before I first moved out of my mother's house, when we were having major problems.  I pretty much got it as a big "Fuck You" and a wave goodbye.
The puzzle piece on my wrist is something equally dark and incredibly fucking emo, and because of that, I'd rather just skip that explanation.

But the Sigur Rós tattoo is something completely different.
I read a comment somewhere that a girl wrote about Glósóli.  She said she felt golden when she listened to that song walking through a crowded hallway.  And I realized, that is exactly what it feels like.  Exactly.  When I'm walking to work and listening to music, and a Sigur Rós song comes on and I get this quiet growl deep within my gut, there is no other way to describe it other than that I am golden.
And so I want to remember that feeling.  Always.

It's also kind of sort of a reference to The Catcher In The Rye.  The kids falling off the cliff.  The birds flying away.  Growing up.
