I can't leave my purse on the ground or else I'll think I will lose money.

But the only logic I can relate on this is the fact you don't want your purse/bag to get dirty after paying too much money fot it..:(

superstitions require you to throw logic out the window though.

Not necessarily throw logic out of the window. It's superstitions when you can not seem to find reasonable explanation or logic of certain phenomenon.

And the bag/purse relationship to losing money if sat on the ground is truly what it is - the purse gets dirty or could be stained or could get dusty and the material used may not be washable, cleanable and you are losing money by not taking care of it. The purse that is worth money to you can be gone with just a few days uses.

You don't have to believe my explanation but I've been through this with a friend from overseas..She can not put her bag on the car floor but she can put it inside the trunk which is basically a floor of the car at the same time. :(
