Is it appropriate/inappropriate to be bored simple meme-ing on a fic journal like this? Oh, we'll just say it is. Appropriate, I mean.

1. Comment to this post with the name of a character that I have written in fic. Or geeked out about. Or sideways-glanced suggestively. Or mentioned somehow meaningfully ( Read more... )

Because it has to be asked: Perceptor

Oh, man, you guys are going to hate me for this one. XD

A. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her. Hokay, so, when I was mapping out Naturalized, I decided I wanted another 'bot character to break it up a bit and add contrast, namely, to act as a civilian of sorts. So I went to the Wikipedia page and found the list of Autobots, and the first one I clicked on was Perceptor, because he had the least-silly name. To me anyway. So I read up on him a bit, watched a couple of G1 episodes and decided, "Sounds good!" No, really, that's why.

I waffled with using Mirage for a little bit but ultimately decided to stick with Percy, primarily because I liked the idea of him as a scientist and being all "Ooh, neat!" all over the place.

B. One of his/her best traits. He can be quite loyal and determined when he wants to be, and despite sometimes not always for the right reasons, he does have good intentions, and he does want to help people. He just won't admit it, and hides all that behind his little shield ( ... )

A. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her. I'd say it was probably calger459's fondness for him, which kind of made me realize what a weird anti-cliche he was. Mad scientist, yes, but a very open and happy one, and moreover, with an Italian accent? Okay!

I'm not sure what came first, though, when I was randomly bitten by the Revelation bunny, that it would center around religion or that Wheeljack would be in it, but since pretty early on in Naturalized I decided that all the scientists were basically one great big incestuous love fest, I alluded to him then, and pretty quickly decided he was going to be in the second one.

B. One of his/her best traits. Innately Wheeljack is very curious about other people, and also loves to see them realize their full potential and generally be fulfilled. I stress 'innately' because he has really, really loss sight of this and who he is at his core due to all the Fucked Up Shit he's had to go through.

C. One of his/her worst traits. Back in the day, he could ( ... )

Wheeljack is just a big cuddly bundle of 'ohh fascinating' and I heartily support anything that goes beyond Wheeljack + invention = explosion.

Very impressed by the Soprano-speak and the spin you've put on him so far. Really looking forward to his interaction with the rest of the cast in the coming chapters so thank you for taking such a shine to him :)

A. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her. Well, primarily I needed an antagonist that was actually on Megatron's side, and in his own special way was way scarier than Starscream could ever be. Soundwave was the obvious choice. :)

B. One of his/her best traits. Heh, define "best"! Like many Decepticons, Soundwave is very "greater good" oriented, and in that way is also remarkably selfless in some ways. He genuinely believes that Megatron is right, and is quite willing to die for that cause. This, of course, being a very large rift in the fallout between the Autobots and the Decepticons, what that "greater good" actually entails.

C. One of his/her worst traits. The creation of symbiotes is, to many, even Decepticons, considered immoral, so he loses points for that. He also has very little respect for life, especially organic life, of course.

D. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character. Eh, it depends, I'd say the hard part is making him 'scary', and really, in Naturalized he ( ... )

Iiiii guess I'll do both!

Bluestreak!

A. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her. taselby. Yep. Initially, when Revelation was a lot shorter, Wheeljack didn't come alone and had a couple of buddies with him, and Bluestreak was one of them. Once I decided that Wheeljack was completely insaaaaane it no longer made sense for him to have them with him, so Bluestreak and Prowl got pushed back to Libertas.

B. One of his/her best traits. Despite a melancholy that he tries very hard to hide, he's generally quite open and positive, especially regarding the weird little humans, certainly moreso than the other Autobots, save perhaps Bee. He thinks humans are nifty.

C. One of his/her worst traits. Like Percy, he's been through a lot of shit, though unlike Percy, his coping mechanism isn't to close himself off, but to open himself up way too much, sometimes to the alienation of others, and sometimes to his own detriment when it backfires and causes him even more hurt. Basically, he seeks constantly to feel ( ... )

E. How much, if at all, I deviate the character from the source material. I'm not really sure, since he's hardly in G1 at all, really. I know he got da Tragic Past in fanon and on the toy box bio (or something), but I've trouble tracing that. He's a scout in my 'verse, which means he has some rather unpleasant duties to go along with it. I also don't plan on him doing the verbal diarrhea thing.

http://ravage.o-f.com/Profiles/Bluestreak.html (stupid obtrusive ads are stupid and obtrusive... close 'em out before the load, otherwise sometimes they seem to get stuck in front of the content >>)

I'm guessing maybe this is where that originated from? It's Dreamwave's MTMTE bio--I have no idea if there was anything about the Tragic Past in canon before this. :P

Am quite looking forward to Bluestreak's arrival and seeing how you write him. :3
