I have made delicious dried fruit-hazelnut-orangepeel-chocolate-linseed scones :) Perfect with grape jelly and cactus tea :)

Today will be lots of Russian since I can't go out and do much anyway because of the sudden snowfall. Russian and the How-to-learn-any-langue forum just because it makes me feel bad :D

russian, scones

Hmm... you are another one of those Canadians? Where is Thompson? I'm kind of guessing there are a couple of them around.

I have now looked it up on a map! I knew it sounded familiar, but couldn't really pinpoint it :) We're almost at the same latitudes, you at 55 and I at 59! Dunno how much difference those couple of degrees make though. I just know that over here we should really be all frozen down, logically speaking, without the gulf stream :)

That is a quite cool place to be at though, but perhaps a bit impractical when you want to go somewhere else?

By the way, are you close to where the polar bears are?

Scones mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. And mmmm some more :P
What does cactus tea taste like?! It sounds so exotic.

I'm -finally- starting to learn Russian... in july. But yay! And it's with a friend who's also learnt a European language so hopefully that will be good. July because I'm starting French again, the first lesson's this week, and I'm absolutely terrified!

Scones are just OMG for breakfast, honestly.

What it tastes like... weeell.. I think it has a very clear and pure taste, and it never becomes bitter! This does not mean is does not have taste, it has plenty of taste, but it feels like you're drinking something that's pure!

And yay for that! What language did she learn? First I thought you meant July because that's WHEN you started French again, but no ;P Will the Russian thing be in a class? Do you know what books you'll use? And for the French, what material do you use?

Oh, yum!

My friend learned German during all of high school, and she also did French for 3 or 4 years, I forget. For Russian - my friend has a couple of books and DVDs, so we'll have a look through them and figure out what we're going to do. In July :P
For French, I buy my books just before I go into the class on Wednesday, so I have no idea what it's called. I'll keep you updated.
Also, I'm going to Morocco, Egypt and France in November YAY!!! So, I feel like I should learn a little bit of Arabic, but there's just no time!

Holy crap! With whom are you travelling and why those countries?
For arabic, a little piece of advice: if you decide to take a look at it, use Assimil or some similar method. Don't get over enthusiastic and buy a complex book cause it will just make you feel dizzy. Been there, done that and so on. I've got a lot of fancy arabic books myself though.

And I have toooons of Russian ressources, so if you're looking for something (in July!) just ask, I've tried most things.
Howeveeeeer, another little piece of advice: don't wait with learning the alpabet (unless you already know it). Leave actually learning stuff for later, but start learning the alphabet straight away, so that you feel comfortable with it once you do start with books. It will save you lots of time, promise.

I really want to be everyone's language mentor >_
